Cheyenne Mayor Rick Kaysen says that while talks continue between the city and a Kansas company about a possible purchase by the city of the 2/3 of the property it doesn't currently own, officials are looking to mitigate the visual impact of the empty property with a new, more decorative fence.

The hole has been vacant  for several years ever since a fire destroyed the building that once was located there. Kaysen says negotiations over a possible purchase were held as recently as last week, but so far no agreement has been reached. In the meantime the mayor says the city and the other property owner have discussed the possibility of putting up a new, more attractive fence to replace the bleak chain link fence that currently sits in front of the property.

City officials have discussed the possibility of developing and leasing or re-selling the property if the city can ever get full ownership.
