The Cheyenne Office of the National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for southeast Wyoming, including Cheyenne.

The advisory began late Christmas night and runs through 11 a.m. on Thursday, December 27

A winter storm warning has been posted for parts of the Nebraska panhandle. The weather service posted this statement on its website Christmas evening.

''A Winter Storm Warning is in effect from late tonight through midday Thursday for much of the southern Nebraska Panhandle with a Winter Weather Advisory for the same time for the rest of the Nebraska Panhandle and Goshen and eastern Laramie Counties of southeast Wyoming. There is a chance of freezing drizzle over the advisory area with freezing rain likely over the warning area. Snowfall totals will range from 1 to 5 inches over much of the Nebraska Panhandle. Additional snowfall of 1 to 3 inches will fall tonight over and near the Snowy, Sierra Madre and Northern Laramie Ranges.''
