Cheyenne Mayor Rick Kaysen says the latest in a series of severe spring snowstorms which hit Cheyenne this week has set back work on a variety of city projects.

The mayor says the storm which hit Tuesday night and Wednesday morning halted work on the East and West Pershing Reconstruction projects, The Converse/Pershing/19th street /Roundabout Project, some Board of Public Utilities work and even gardening projects in city parks and similar areas.

An official total of over 11 inches of snow socked the area  in the latest storm, which was the third severe snowstorm to hit the area in the last month or so, following a relatively mild winter for the area.

Kaysen says the good news for the city is that because less money than usual was spent on snow removal this past winter, the city budget is still able to absorb the extra costs of the more recent storms. Kaysen says "We are being stretched, but we're OK" in terms of the snow removal budget.
