Wanted Man Caught in Cheyenne With 100 Fentanyl Pills in His Sock

A wanted Fort Collins, Colorado transient is facing a felony drug possession charge after Cheyenne police say they caught him with 100 fentanyl pills in his sock.

According to a booking sheet, an officer stopped 32-year-old Jordan Thomas Johnson in the 1700 block of West Lincolnway at about 11:25 p.m. on Aug. 28 for a faulty headlight.

The officer says Johnson stated his name was Jesse Johnson and gave a false birthday.

The officer then asked Johnson to step out of his car while the officer attempted to identify who he was and called a K-9 to the scene, who in turn alerted their handler to the presence of the odor of narcotics.

When officers searched Johnson's car, they found his driver's license and were able to positively identify him.

Officers also found a suspected fentanyl pill inside the car and approximately 100 fentanyl pills in Johnson's sock.

An NCIC check indicated Johnson had two felony warrants with full extradition out of Larimer County, Colorado.

Johnson was subsequently arrested and charged with interference with a peace officer and felony possession of fentanyl.

He's currently being held in the Laramie County Detention Center on a $2,500 cash or surety bond awaiting a Sept. 7 preliminary hearing.
