UW Conducting National Search For New Provost
University of Wyoming President Ed Seidel is asking anyone interested in serving as the school's next Interim Provost to submit a letter and CV by May 21 at uwpres@uwyo.edu.
That's according to a University news release
Seidel plans to announce the new interim provost at the June Board of Trustees meeting. The interim Provost will continue to serve in that role while UW conducts a national search for a new Provost.
Then-Provost Kevin Carmen resigned the position last fall after being asked to do so by Seidel.
Current Interim Provost Set To Return To His Regular Role
Scott Turpen has been serving as interim provost since Nov. 25. He's set to return to his role as the Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences on August 1.
In a new release, Turpen was quoted as saying "“My appointment as interim provost was always intended to be temporary, and I’m excited to return to my college,” says Turpen, a longtime Department of Music faculty member who served as a department head and associate dean of the college before taking the reins as dean in 2022. “I remain very optimistic about the future of the university.”
Seidel was quoted in the release as saying “I deeply appreciate Dr. Turpen’s service to the university. He has done a tremendous job as interim provost during a challenging time on campus,” Seidel says. “I understand and respect his decision to return to the deanship in the College of Arts and Sciences.”
