Thousands Served At Monday Cheyenne Frontier Days Breakfast

Several thousand people were served at the first of three Cheyenne Frontier Days Pancake Breakfasts on Monday morning at the Cheyenne Depot Plaza.

The event is an annual CFD tradition, presented by the Cheyenne Kiwanis Club and local Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts. While the total number of people served was not immediately available, Sam Weinstein of the Kiwanis, who is in charge of the 2019 Pancake Breakfasts, said organizers expect to serve 7,000 to 8,000 people.

Additional breakfasts are planned for Wednesday and Friday mornings of CFD week. The Monday crowd is usually the smallest of the three days, while the annual Wednesday breakfast tends to draw the largest crowd. That's due to the fact that Wednesday is ''Cheyenne Day" at Frontier Days, and many local businesses are closed for the day.

Weinstein on Monday said that while the annual breakfast may be a fun event and long-time CFD tradition, it also offers a drill on feeding large numbers of people in an emergency.

He also said roughly 300 people volunteered to put on Monday's breakfast.
