SWAT Team Deployed To Arrest Cheyenne Man On Felony Warrant
A 44-year-old Cheyenne man was behind bars at last report after being arrested on Wednesday morning on a felony warrant for strangulation of a household member.
According to Cheyenne Police spokesman David Janes, the Laramie County SWAT team was deployed to the 8000 block of Cowboy Road to arrest Jacob Miller on a felony warrant dating back to an incident that occurred on October 2, 2026.
Miller is alleged to have held a household member for several hours inside Cheyenne city limits and attempted to strangle the victim.
Why Was The SWAT Team Deployed?
Janes says the SWAT team was deployed to arrest Miller because of the violent nature of the alleged crime, Miller's overall criminal history, including resisting police, and the fact that he may have had access to firearms.
Another reason was the complicated layout of the location, with several outbuildings and vehicles that could lead to a dangerous situation if Miller was armed and resisted arrest.
Janes says the SWAT team had information that Miller was either in the basement of the house or possibly in one of the campers parked outside the house. When they arrived on the scene, the SWAT team made several announcements ordering Miller to come out. They also threw a flashbang distraction device.
Miller came out and surrendered in less than 30 seconds, according to Janes.
Janes says Miller was taken to the Laramie County Jail. The original incident is still being investigated, and Janes says it's possible that the District Attorney's Office may change or add charges against Miller.
