Possible Record Temperatures, Strong Winds, Red Flag Warning For SE Wyoming
Southeast Wyoming residents can expect record to near temperatures, winds gusting up to 70 miles per hour.
That's according to the Cheyenne Office of the National Weather Service.
The dry, warm, windy conditions have also led to a Red Flag Fire warning for the region.
The agency posted the following on its website: Dec. 22nd, 3:30am - A Red Flag Warning has been issued for most of Laramie County. Low afternoon humidity, warm temperatures, and winds gusting in excess of 50 to 60 mph will create a favorable environment for rapid fire spread. Use caution and avoid burning outdoors.

Dec. 22nd, 3am - High Wind Warnings have been expanded to include central Laramie County. Wind gusts between 60 and 70 mph are expected across the warned areas. Use caution if traveling with light weight or high profile vehicles.

Warm temperatures will dominate Christmas week this year. Highs in the 50s to 60s will be about 20 degrees above average for this time of year. In addition to the warmth, we will have another round of strong winds gusting 40 to 55 mph in Wyoming (with 55-75 mph gusts in the wind prone areas), and 25 to 45 mph in Nebraska. Grassland wildfire danger will be elevated all week due to the dry/breezy conditions, lack of snow cover, and warm temperatures. Near record high temperatures will be possible each day through Christmas Day before the next storm system moves into the area.
