As hot, dry conditions continue in southeast Wyoming, most of the region is under a Red Flag Warning for critical fire danger.

That's according to the Cheyenne Office of the National Weather Service. The agency posted the following on its website:

Key Points: ● Hot temperatures and dry conditions are expected to last through Wednesday night. However, the ridge is expected to drift eastward to allow more moisture into the region Thursday. ● Shortwaves will impact Thursday and through the weekend for increased rain and thunderstorm chances for the mountains. ● However for areas east of I-25 those rain chances won't occur until at least the weekend. UPDATES: ● There is higher confidence that more moisture will arrive Wednesday afternoon/Wednesday night and continue into the weekend. ● So the Heat advisory and Red Flag is expected to expire on time. ● Elevated Fire conditions will remain Thursday.

Dry and gusty conditions continue to cause critical fire weather concerns for many locations in our CWA. Therefore, a Red Flag Warning remains in effect for portions of eastern Wyoming, the Nebraska Panhandle, and for a zone in southwestern Carbon County now through 8 PM Wednesday. Outdoor burning is not recommended. Use caution while outdoors and do not be an ignition source!
