SE Wyoming Mountains Could Get Foot Of Snow, 40 MPH Winds
The Cheyenne Office of the National Weather Service says southeast Wyoming could get its first blast of winter weather this week, including potentially heavy snow at higher elevations.
The agency posted the following on its website:
''Nice weather will continue Tuesday across southeast Wyoming and Nebraska Panhandle, before a strong cold front moves into the area from the west. This front will bring widespread precipitation and colder temperatures as it moves through. Snow expected to begin in the mountains Wednesday afternoon, with isolated strong thunderstorms ahead of the front. Accumulating moderate to possibly heavy snow is possible Wednesday night through Thursday night along and west of Interstate 25. Hunters, campers and hikers in our western mountains will experience winter weather conditions, so plan accordingly. Stay tuned!'
A winter storm watch has been posted for some areas:
A Winter Storm Watch is in effect for our mountain zones including the Sierra Madre, Snowy, and North Laramie Ranges. Snow accumulation of 12 or more inches are possible between Wednesday and early Friday morning. Be sure to check back for updates on this storm system!
