Wyoming Governor Mark Gordon is leaving office after two terms as governor of Wyoming.

Four Republicans, one Democrat and a Constitution Party candidate have announced plans to run for the office.

Who will get your vote?

Republican Candidates For Governor

Eric Barlow-Barlow's website says he is a Marine Corps veteran, rancher and large animal veterinarian. He is a long-time member of the Wyoming legislature from Campbell County who was first elected to the Wyoming House in 2012, including a term as House Speaker. He has served in the state Senate since 2022. His website touts him as someone who will "show up, listen, and get the job done."

Megan Degenfelder-Degenfelder was elected state Superintendent of Public Instruction in 2022. She has the endorsement of President Donald Trump. According to her website, she is "A sixth-generation Wyoming ranch kid from Casper with years of private-sector experience in coal and oil and gas." She is trying to become only the second woman to serve as Governor of Wyoming.

Brent Bien-Bien's website says he is ''The only conservative candidate in the 2026 race." He is a retired Marine Corps Colonel who graduated from the University of Wyoming with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering. Bien challenged Governor Mark Gordon in the GOP Primary for Governor in 2022, getting slightly less than 30 percent in his race against the incumbent.

Curt Blake-Blake is the least known of the four GOP gubernatorial candidates. He does not appear to have a campaign website. In a recent interview with the Northern Wyoming News, he is quoted as saying he has lived in Wyoming for 60 years and is running for governor because he could not "sit on my hands" when looking at the other candidates for governor.

Democratic Gubernatorial Candidate

Ken Casner-The only Democrat to file for governor is Kenneth Casner of Elk Mountain. Casner also ran for Governor in 2018 and 2022. He does not appear to have a campaign website. Since he is unopposed in the August 18th Primary election, he presumably will be the party's nominee in the November 2 General election.

Constitution Party Candidate

Rebecca Bextel-The Constitution Party of Wyoming recently nominated Bextel, a Jackson resident, as their gubernatorial candidate. But according to her campaign website whether she actively campaigns appears to depend on who wins the Republican nomination. It says she thinks that either Megan Degenfelder or Bren Bien would "make an excellent Governor!" But if Eric Barlow is the nominee  "I will campaign as hard as I can until November 2nd to prevent our state from having a radical Democratic candidate elected to the Governor’s office."

Bextel is probably best known for her role in handing out checks to lawmakers on the floor of the Wyoming House earlier this year in the so-called "Checkgate" incident. While the Laramie County Sheriff's Office announced it was investigating the incident, to date no criminal charges have been filed.

A Wyoming House Ethics Committee report likewise found no evidence of bribery or violations of House rules, although it did say the incident was undesirable and should not happen again.
