Cheyenne Fire Rescue held a badge pinning ceremony on Friday, Dec. 22 to welcome five new members to the department.

The newest Cheyenne firefighters are Chris Rahn, Kelsy Raile, Spencer Reed, Nathan Yim and Ty Zwonitzer. The five graduated from the Front Range Fire Consortium on Dec. 9.

The 14-week fire academy covers such topics as firefighter safety, public education, car fires, child passenger safety, search and rescue and a wide range of other subjects.

After graduating from that course the new firefighters received an additional two weeks of training from members of the Cheyenne Fire Rescue Department.

The badge pinning ceremony Friday was held at the Cheyenne Public Safety Center at 415. W. 18th St.
