Man Wanted for Armed Robbery in Gillette Captured in Cheyenne
Thanks to Cheyenne police, a man being sought on a federal warrant in connection with an armed robbery at the Gillette Arby's on Nov. 14 is now in custody.
Officer Kevin Malatesta says Melvin "Taz" Jefferson was arrested on Feb. 21.
"ATF informed us that Jefferson may be in Cheyenne and at a particular address," said Malatesta. "In working with our officers, the federal agents were able to apprehend (him)."
Gillette police initially thought that Jefferson forced Arby's employee Aaron Watson into the night manager's office at gunpoint and made him hand over roughly $360, but they later discovered that Watson was in on the crime.
Watson pleaded not guilty to a federal charge of interference with interstate commerce by method of robbery earlier this month.
