One of two Florida men arrested after a Wyoming Highway Patrol trooper found nearly 40 pounds of marijuana in their car has pleaded "not guilty" to possession with intent to deliver marijuana and felony possession of marijuana.

Twenty-one-year-old Serxhio Nokaj entered the plea during his arraignment this (Monday) afternoon in Laramie County District Court.

Nokaj's co-defendant, 22-year-old Ndue Qosaj, is currently incarcerated in the Florida State Prison and therefore failed to appear for his arraignment. His attorney -- who's also representing Nokaj -- asked that a warrant be issued for his arrest.

The Palm Harbor men were pulled over for speeding on Interstate 80 east of Cheyenne on Sept. 13.

The traffic stop led to a search of the vehicle and 35 packages of marijuana, weighing 38.89 pounds, were found in the trunk. A vacuum sealer, vacuum sealer bags and a small booklet with ledgers suspected to be directly related to the purchase and sale of narcotics were also found.

Nokaj's trial has been set for Jan. 9. He could face up to 15 years in prison if convicted.
