Man Arrested In Wyoming For Felony Meth Possession, Larceny
Rock Springs Police say they arrested a man for Felony Possession of Methamphetamine and Larceny while following up on a report of a shoplifter at a Rock Springs Walmart store.
According to an RSPD news release, police were called to the Walmart store on a report that someone had stolen about $600 worth of merchandise. Police tracked down the suspect parked in a car in a Motel 8 parking lot not far from the store.
While police investigated the theft, a Wyoming Highway Patrol trooper and his K9 partner arrived on the scene. The police dog alerted for the presence of illegal drugs in the vehicle, and a search of the car turned up 7 grams of methamphetamine as well as some meth paraphernalia.
Police say they also found several of the items that had been reported stolen from the store. Thomas Ryker was arrested on the drug and theft charges, and police say they expect to file other charges against him as well. At last report, he was being held in the Sweetwater County Detention Center.
