Local Law Enforcement Agencies Plan Cheyenne Frontier Days Joint Effort

The Wyoming Highway Patrol, Cheyenne Police Department, and Laramie County Sheriff's Office are planning a joint traffic enforcement effort during Cheyenne Frontier Days this year, according to a news release from the patrol.

According to the release, the effort will especially target speeding, drunk driving, and distracted driving. The release says the agencies will employ "various strategies and initiatives to effectively tackle the identified traffic safety concerns."

Distracted driving can include talking on a cell phone or texting while driving. Cheyenne has an ordinance against using a cell phone while driving, with an exception for hands-free devices such as Bluetooth.

Cheyenne streets tend to see a huge increase in traffic during Frontier Days, which draws visitors from across the country, many of whom are unfamiliar with local streets.
