City Of Laramie Issues Warning On Phony Invoice Phishing Scam
The City of Laramie is warning the public about an email phishing scam aimed at city residents and business owners.
According to a news release, emails that are made to appear to be from the Laramie Community and Economic Development Department are being sent to community inboxes requesting payment for supposed planning and permitting services.
The release says people should know that the city will never send an email directly to an individual for payment of an invoice.
How To Tell If An Invoice Is Legitimate
The news release offers the following tips to identify legitimate invoices from the city:
- Legitimate digital invoices will only be sent from the City’s official online permitting software via the email address: donotreply@cityoflaramie.org
- Official emails will direct users to log back into the City's secure permitting website to complete a transaction: https://cityoflaramiewy-energovweb.tylerhost.net/apps/selfservice#/home
- If you receive a payment request from any other email address, do not click any links or provide any personal information.
Residents are reminded that they always have the option to pay invoices in person at the City Annex Offices (currently located in the Laramie Boomerang building at 320 E. Grand Ave.) to ensure the security of their transactions..
