Roughly 74 percent of Laramie County's registered voters cast ballots in this year's general election, a near record turnout according to County Clerk Debra Lee.

"That is higher than the previous two midterm elections," said Lee. "In 2014, we had 63 percent voter turnout and in 2010, we had 69 percent voter turnout."

Lee says Tuesday's numbers nearly beat those set back in 2006, when the county saw 75 percent voter turnout.

"Those vote centers were busy all day," she said. "It went very, very smoothly and very efficiently."

The county canvassing board will meet on Friday to certify the election results.
