Now, Wyoming has its share of haunted history. I mean, we were an old west hot spot. There are tons of spooky stories from even before Wyoming was a state. We had cowboys roaming the plains, and doing cowboy stuff that could have led to things like, oh, you know, murder. Yeah, times were rough back then.

We can't go a spooky season without mention of the execution of Tom Horn, the murder in The Plains Hotel, or other events that lead people to believe that there are spirits floating around. I mean, there was ghost hunting at The Atlas Theater over the weekend.

So, at least we feel validated that we have the credentials to be a "haunted state".

A brand new study from SlotSource gathered a bunch of info from a paranormal site called GhostsOfAmerica and ranked the top 20 states in the country that are the most haunted. They broke it down by the number of reported encounters in 2022. So if you're thinking about how this survey works, you'll immediately think, "oh, it's another population survey". Per usual, we get snubbed due to our low population.

I'm going to go ahead and say that I think we were snubbed in this one due to our lower population.

Shocker.

Texas took first place with nearly 5,000 ghost sightings just in 2022. Ok, that would be excessive if a population of 500,000 would have 5,000 ghost sightings in a year to report. That's a good portion of our population.

While we all may feel that we have a lot of spooky activity in the Cowboy State, we still didn't make the top 20 on this list.

There's always next year.
