Cheyenne Regional Airport is asking the community to help out Transportation Security Agents as the agents try to find ways to get by until they get paid again.

TSA agents across the country haven't been paid since mid-February because a dispute in Congress over funding for the Department of Homeland Security has left them high and dry.

At this point, it's not clear when the dispute might be resolved. In the meantime, TSA personnel have been getting checks for $0.

So the airport is asking for a little help for the agents.

According to a post on the airport's Facebook page:

TSA agents are essential workers — they're required to keep showing up even during a government shutdown. They have now missed their first full paycheck, and our Cheyenne community can help.
Cheyenne Regional Airport is collecting donations for our local TSA staff to help cover everyday essentials while the shutdown continues.

Details On How You Can Help

According to the post, gift cards from stores like Walmart, King Soopers and Safeway would be helpful. Cards for stores offering both food and gas would be especially helpful. The cards must be store-specific.

While there is a limit of $20 per card, donors can give as many cards as they would like. But according to the post "Please note: cash, Visa, Mastercard, AMEX, and other cash-equivalent gift cards cannot be accepted due to federal ethics rules."
