Ian Munsick Launches A Clothing Line, Cowboy Bar, Summer Tour, And New Album
His mission is to "Bring the West to the Rest," and it's in full-steam-ahead mode right now.
Ian Munsick is one busy guy; this week alone, he's released a new clothing line with Shaefer Outfitter, his 4th studio album, The Mountain Goat, drops Friday, and his new summer tour, Road To The Mountain Goat Tour, kicks off in Nevada on Friday, too.
His tour will make a stop at Red Rocks Amphitheater with Ernest and Ned LeDoux on Tuesday, August 25, and the Colorado State Fair on the 28th.
That's a lot going on in a two-week span, but that's not where the excitement ends. He'll head to Minnesota with Jason Aldean, Texas, and New Mexico on the tour.
Then you can throw in the grand opening weekend of the Ian Munsick Cowboy Bar & Western Grill, September 18-20. Where Ian and his wife, Caroline, make their dream of opening a place in Deadwood come true.
Ian and I had a chance to talk in great detail about everything that's going on right now while he and the crew were on the bus headed to Nevada.
If you know Ian, you know he's never forgotten where he came from. This dude is Wyoming through and through, and he's sharing his western-style, hard-working mentality and a little of the Cowboy State with the rest of the country. Hence his mission statement, "Bringing the West to the Rest."
The NEW Clothing Line: Available Now
You can see that in the new Ian Munsick clothing line with Schaefer Outfitters. If you've seen any of his music videos or photo sessions, you've already seen some of the items from this line. Ian says the line is western, durable, and high quality.
They prioritize quality over everything else. That is their number one thing. They want to make clothes that stand the test of time and that you can wear out on the ranch, and it holds up. That is their number one statement.
Ian also mentioned they've been approached in the past about partnering with a clothing company, but it wasn't until they found Shaefers Outfitter and their proven track record that they decided the timing was right.
You can see all of the options available and purchase the items now at ShaeferOutfitter.com
The NEW Music: The Mountain Goat available Friday, August 21
When you're a country artist, and you have new music, you want people to hear it. You also want it to be perfect before you give it to your fans. Ian has a musical style he's crafted over the years, shaped by growing up on a ranch in Wyoming and by playing and learning from his dad and brothers, and he works hard to keep that unique sound fresh and appealing to his fans.
You know I think that growing up on a ranch in Wyoming has really allowed me, pretty effortlessly, stay true to what country music is all about, but also have a unique flare and my own lane in country music at the same time.
Putting out a new album takes time, starting with writing and recording the songs. Ian says that when he's writing songs, he channels the skills that he's learned from his dad over the years.
I think that having my dad kinda as my first teacher in music, and in writing music. He really instilled that in me that it's a powerful tool to get a story across that the audience can take away meaning. I don't have any interest in writing music that just kind of goes in one ear and out the other. I want there to be a heartbeat in my music, and meat in my music that people can really have an experience through.
When you listen to the 15 songs on The Mountain Goat album, you'll be able to hear those Munsick songwriting skills come to life. Pre-order your copy now.
The Cowboy Bar and Western Grill: Grand Opening September 18 in Deadwood, SD
In 2019, Ian played the Deadwood Mountain Grand, and that's when he knew he had a real chance of making it in the music world. He says 2,000 people knew every word to his songs, and the fans showed their love. Since then, Deadwood has held a special place in Ian and Caroline's hearts. So much so that Caroline said then that one day they'd have their own place in Deadwood.
That dream became a reality a little over a year ago, when entrepreneur, developer, and managing partner of the Landmark Hotel & Casino in Deadwood, Gerard Keating, approached Ian and wanted to put Ian's name on a cowboy bar. Ian says their love of Deadwood and their plan to one day have a place there meant they were all in from the get-go.
Built between 1894 and 1920, The Landmark is Deadwood’s largest historic structure at approximately 35,000 square feet. The Ian Munsick Cowboy Bar & Western Grill will reside within over 2,600 square feet of the footprint. The venue will promote and celebrate country and western music with old-school country bar decor, plus two performance stages: one indoors and one outdoors.
Ian says he and Caroline have been hands-on, adding their influence and ideas from the beginning of the project when there was only a gravel floor to now when they're getting ready for the grand opening weekend September 18-20.
Ian will be playing Friday night at the Deadwood Jam in Outlaw Square. His band will be the house band at Ian Munsick's Cowboy Bar. Ian's dad and brothers, plus some of his other music-industry friends, will be among the musical guests during the weekend.
You should probably start looking for rooms now so you can be part of this historic moment for Ian, Caroline, their kids and family, and Deadwood.
Thanks to Ian for letting me be a part of his wild and crazy life for a bit. We talked a long time about all of this, so I've edited it down a little, but you can see our conversation below. Remember to follow Ian, get concert tickets, and keep up on the latest at IanMunsick.com.
