We asked Don Day this morning [12-18] whether it looks like there will be snow on the ground for Christmas a week from today.

Here is his response:

''Odds are increasing of snow Christmas eve into Christmas day, too early to discuss amounts, but trend to colder with snow chances is looking possible at the moment.''

Day is the founder and President of Dayweather Inc. in Cheyenne.

The National Weather Service Seems To Agree

The Cheyenne Office of the National Weather Service seemed to echo Day's comments:

''Wishing for a white Christmas? Take a look at the 6-10 Day precipitation and temperature outlook that favors above normal precipitation, but also above normal temperatures for late December. Luckily for southeast Wyoming and western Nebraska, above normal temperatures in late December could still mean snow is possible. Stay up to date with the latest forecast at weather.gov/cys.'
