We love to eat in Wyoming, but surprisingly we are not the kings and queens of fast food locations.

We've all been there, right? You're in the middle of a long road trip when the hunger hits. Suddenly you've got to eat. Unfortunately, this feeling typically hits during that lengthy stretch of highway where there is nothing on the side of the road to grab and go.

It's the worst!

As it turns out, there are some states that are better equipped for situations like these simply because they have more fast food restaurants per Capita. Thrillist recently took a look at these numbers and was able to determine which states have the most fast food joints per 10,000 people. The central part of the United States, by far, hosts more of these restaurants than the rest of the nation.

Wyoming and the entire western region rank third.

On average, the west hosts about 3.7 fast food restaurants per 10,000 people. That puts us just above the northeastern region at 2.5, and below the central and southern regions at 4.5 and 4.4, respectively. Thrillist also took a look at the states on an individual level. Wyoming came in at the middle of the pack at number 26 with 4.1 locations per 10,000 people.

As far as which restaurants have the most locations. Subway reigns supreme. The sandwich king is followed by McDonald's, Burger King, Taco Bell and Pizza Hut. Which fast food restaurant is your favorite?
