The Applebee's Restaurant at 3209 Grand Avenue in Laramie has closed, according to several sources.

A Facebook page for the restaurant says "permanently closed." The Applebee's website for Wyoming lists only Cheyenne and Rock Springs as having the restaurants.

A Yelp entry for the restaurant says "Yelpers Report This Location Has Closed."

An entry on the "Laramie Take Out And Business Support Group includes a listing with numerous restaurant-related items for sale. In the comment section someone asked the author of the post what business is selling the items. The response was "Applebee's."

Applebee's is owned by the same company that owns the International House Of Pancakes, or IHOP, Dine Brands. The Cheyenne IHOP closed it's doors earlier this year.

Laramie Closure Is Part Of A Recent Trend

The closure of the Laramie Applebee's is apparently part of a national trend. Financebuzz.com in a 2024 article said that the chain was closing 35 outlets across the country at that time.

The website restaurantdive.com in March of this year said the chain was projecting a loss of between 20 and 35 outlets. That same article said the chain was hoping that a combination of renovations and  dual branding with IHOP would turn the tide for the struggling chain.

According to the Applebee's website on the history of the chain, the first Applebee's opened in Decatur, Georgia in 1980. By 1998 there were 1,000 Applebee's across the country. Scrapehero.com in April said there were 1,498 Applebee's, with the restaurant having locations in every single U.S. state.

5 of the Worst Natural Disasters in Wyoming History

Wyoming has experienced several severe natural disasters throughout its history, with the most impactful including the 1949 blizzard, the 1988 Yellowstone fires, the 1987 Teton-Yellowstone tornado, and the 1923 Bighorn River flood. The Hanna mine disasters of 1903 and 1908 also stand out as significant events due to the high number of fatalities.
