Laramie County Sheriff candidate Captain Don Hollingshead says he wants to build on the positive foundation built by current Sheriff Danny Glick to lead the agency into the future.

Hollingshead is one of three Republicans vying for the office, with Brian Kozak and Boyd Wrede also running for the GOP nomination.

Jeff Barnes is running as an independent candidate, and Jess Fresquez has filed to run for Laramie County Sheriff as a Democrat. Sheriff Glick, who is a Republican, is not running for re-election after several terms in office.

Hollingshead was a guest on the weekend in Wyoming Program on KGAB radio this past Saturday

In the interview, he said the big problem for the agency right now is that pay is not competitive with similar law enforcement agencies in the region.

He says other candidates in the race are trying to blame the leadership of the agency for poor morale, when in fact the real problem is low pay and the resulting understaffing of the agency.

He says he has been discussing the issue with Laramie County Commissioners, who fund the sheriff's office. You can hear his entire interview in the audio file below:
