New Breathalyzer Kiosk Allows For Laramie County 24/7 Sobriety Program
The Laramie County Sheriff's Office has installed a 24/7 breathalyzer kiosk in the lobby at the sheriff's office to allow for twice a day breathalyzer tests for people convicted of alcohol-related offenses who are sentenced by a court to take the tests.
That's according to a news release from the sheriff's office.
How The Program Works
According to the release, people convicted of alcohol offenses can be ordered to take the tests twice a day. If someone skips a test or tests positive for alcohol they can immediately be arrested.
But the release says if they stay sober, they can continue working, living with their families, and be contributing members of society. Sheriff Kozak said, “I’m excited about this program. It gives people the opportunity to maintain their employment and family lives while ensuring they stay sober. 24/7 is saving taxpayers by keeping these low-risk individuals out of jail.''
Sheriff's Office spokesman Brandon Warner says the program got underway in April of this year, and at last report 34 people were enrolled in the program.
The sheriff's office is also looking for someone to work part-time as a Sobriety program Tester. You can find out more about the job opening at ink below. https://www.governmentjobs.com/careers/laramiecounty
