Apple Air Tag Leads To Job Site Burglary Arrest Of Cheyenne Man
A hidden Apple Air Tag on concrete saw that was stolen has led to the arrest of a Cheyenne man for stealing equipment from a job site in Colorado.
That's according to a post on the Laramie County Sheriff's Office Facebook page.
The Investigation Started On March 20
According to the post, the investigation started on March 20 when sheriff's deputies got a report about a stolen property case. A company working at a job site in Jefferson County, Colorado reported that several items had been taken from a job site there. One of the stolen items, a Stihl concrete saw, had an Apple Air Tag hidden on it. By tracking the air tag an employee was able to trace the stolen saw to a home in the 3700 Block of Charles Street in Cheyenne.
The other evidence that led to an arrest was video of a truck used in the theft. A truck parked in front of the same home matched the vehicle seen in the video.
Using that evidence, deputies were able to obtain a search warrant for the home. When they executed the warrant they found the stolen concrete saw and several other items had been taken in the burglary, according to the post.
44-year-old Dallas Gonzales of Cheyenne [above photo] was arrested for possession of stolen property/felony, and for interference. Burglary charges are pending out of Jefferson County Colorado.
