The Cheyenne Office of the National Weather Service has posted a high wind warning for much of southeast Wyoming for today.

A cold front is also expected to bring cooler temperatures and a few showers to the region.

The agency posted this statement on its website:

High Wind Warnings remain in effect for the wind prone areas of southeast Wyoming until 3 PM MDT today. Wind gusts up to 65 MPH are possible along portions of I-80 between Cheyenne and Rawlins, as well as Interstate 25 between Chugwater and Wheatland. Travel conditions will be hazardous for light weight and high profile vehicles, including campers and tractor trailers.

The weather service is also warning of a fast-moving cold front later today:

''A fast-moving cold front will bring cooler temperatures and windy conditions to the region on Tuesday. A slight chance of showers will be possible Tuesday, but clouds will clear overnight, leading to a sunny, yet breezy, Wednesday.''
