On Thursday, Sept. 17 at 5:23 p.m., the Albany County Sheriff's Office and Laramie Police Department got a report that a car stolen in Colorado was headed to Wyoming on U.S. Highway 287.

That's according to a post on the sheriff's office Facebook page.

According to the post, deputies spotted the vehicle on Highway 287 and tried to stop it, but the driver refused to stop and sped towards Laramie at speeds of over 100 miles per hour.

No Driver's Side Front Tire? No Problem!

According to the post, as the chase continued, sheriff's deputies and Laramie Police s successfully deployed stop sticks near Highway 287 and Soldier Springs Road. But that didn't stop the vehicle as the driver charged into Laramie and onto 9th Street before turning onto Roger Canyon Road. Even with the driver's side front tire gone, the car hit speeds of over 90 miles per hour driving on the rim.

Around mile post 11 on Roger Canyon Road, the vehicle rammed through a locked cattle gate. The car crashed near milepost 11.5, and the driver ran away on foot. But Wyoming Highway Patrol troopers and sheriff's deputies were able to run him down.

According to the post, "the suspect, Jonis Mencia-Cruz, was wanted on a Colorado Department of Corrections warrant for flight/escape with nationwide extradition.

Mencia-Cruz was arrested on charges of felony possession of stolen property, felony property damage, eluding, reckless driving, interference, speeding, failure to stop at a stop sign, failure to stop at a stop light, and the Colorado warrant. He was booked into custody at the Albany County Detention Center and is being held without bond"
