Laramie County Commissioner Linda Heath says the county's diversified economy makes it better able to deal with low energy prices than most counties in the state.

While oil has played a significant role in the county's economy in recent years, Heath says a number of non-energy companies have also been growing. She says Microsoft continues to expand and has plans well into the future in Laramie County.

She also says the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR) will continue to boost the local economy as it moves ahead with it's plans for the new "Cheyenne" supercomputer in the capital city.

She also points to the location of the Magpul Industries plant in Cheyenne as yet another stabilizing factor in the local economy.

Heath says many counties in the state are much more dependent on the energy sector of the economy and will likely continue to struggle until energy prices improve.
