Rodeo fans got some sad news this week with news of the death of Rodeo Hall of Famer Roy Cooper.

Cooper won multiple titles at Cheyenne Frontier Days and was a member of the CFD Hall Of Fame.. He was a regular contestant at the "Daddy of 'em All" for more than a quarter of a century.

According to ABC affiliate WFAA in Dallas, Cooper died in a Tuesday evening house fire at the age of 69.

According to the Wise County Messenger, the Tuesday blaze at Cooper's home near Decatur, Texas, was still under investigation at last  report.

Cooper Won Multiple Cheyenne Frontier Days Titles

According to the Cheyenne Frontier Days Old West Museum, Cooper was inducted into the CFD Hall Of Fame In 2004.

The Frontier Days Hall Of Fame website includes these comments:

''Afflicted with asthma as a child, Roy Cooper overcame his handicap and became a professional roper. Competing at Cheyenne Frontier Days™ from 1976 to 2003, Roy Cooper took home the All Around Champion buckle in 1989 and 1993, the Steer Roping Champion buckle in 1988 and the Calf Roping Champion buckle in 1978. He is the first man in 25 years to win three world titles in a single season and was nicknamed the “Super Looper” after claiming five consecutive world tie-down roping titles. In 2000, he became the first person in PRCA history to reach 2 million dollars in career earnings.''
