Psychologist Dr. Robert Cole, PHD, will host a workshop in Cheyenne Thursday to educate teachers on how to address the issue of fire safety with pre-school students. Dr. Cole says the workshop will include the award winning play safe! be safe! fire safety program as well as other information for teachers.

You know children's motivation, their curiosity about fire, their limited understanding of fire. And also tips for parents. What should they tell parents about creating a safe environment in terms of putting things away, in terms of talking to children and providing really good supervision.

Dr. Cole says in 2010 alone 44,900 fires were started by children usuall ages 1-5. the fires resulted in 90 deaths, 890 injuries and $210 million in property damage.

The workshop will be held at Laramie County Community College from 9 a.m. until noon.
