The City of Cheyenne is warning motorists to expect delays on one of the city's most traveled streets starting today as an emergency utility repair project gets underway.

The city sent out the following announcement on Thursday afternoon:

''Beginning Friday morning on April 8th, Black Hills Energy will be performing an emergency repair in the 1500 block of Converse Avenue. North and South bound traffic will be reduced to one lane each between E. 15th and E. 16th Streets. Expect slower traffic speeds and congestion along Converse Ave. between E. Pershing and E. Lincolnway. The intersection at Converse Ave. and E. Lincolnway may also become congested during morning, lunch, and afternoon traffic. Please consider an alternate route if possible. Depending on conditions, the work could take one to two weeks."
