A program that has previously been available to breast cancer patients at Cheyenne Regional Medical Center has now been expanded to all cancer patients.

Tammy Thiede, Oncology Service Line Director at the hospital, says a nurse is now assigned to act as a navigator for cancer patients.

The navigator helps the patient navigate the system, dealing with such topics as doctors appointments, meetings with various other people involved in treatment, and in general help the patient deal with appointments, schedules and other logistic issues involved in cancer treatment,

Thiede says the navigator acts as a "one stop shop" for questions and help related to cancer treatment.

Thiede says the navigator program has been available to breast cancer patients. but says the hospital got such positive feedback from those patients that it has now expanded the program.
