Wyoming Sex Offender Charged Again With Failure to Register
A 37-year-old Cheyenne transient on the Wyoming Sex Offender Registry is facing a felony charge after reportedly once again failing to register.
According to a booking sheet, Charles Anthony Berry was arrested at Deming Drive and Central Avenue at 2:37 p.m. on Wednesday, May 22, after a Laramie County Sheriff's deputy got a call from a woman who works in the sex offender registration office saying she had just seen Berry walking northbound on Interstate 180.
The deputy says Berry had a felony warrant out of Laramie County for failure to register as a sex offender - subsequent violation.
The warrant was signed by Circuit Court Judge Thomas Lee on May 15, 2024.
Berry was booked into the Laramie County Detention Center on his warrant and was seen in Circuit Court on Thursday, May 23.
His bond was set at $1,000 cash and his preliminary hearing was scheduled for May 30 at 2:30 p.m.
According to the Wyoming Sex Offender Registry, Berry was convicted of second-degree sexual abuse of a minor on June 4, 2013; and failure to register as a sex offender on Jan. 11, 2024.
Should he be convicted of a subsequent violation of knowingly failing to register, he could face up to a $1,000 fine, up to 10 years in prison, or both.
