A 29-year-old Cheyenne transient wanted for failing to show up for court on a drug possession charge is facing more drug possession charges after reportedly getting caught with methamphetamine and marijuana following a vehicle breakdown.

According to a booking sheet, police were dispatched to East Pershing Boulevard and Salem Road at 11:37 p.m. on Monday, March 24, for a report of a vehicle blocking the roadway with the axle bent.

Bent Axle Leads to Warrant Arrest

Police contacted Brittani Lynn Imel, who they say was standing next to the vehicle, a blue Honda minivan which was sitting in the right lane with the driver's side tire bent.

Police say Imel told them that she was traveling from her husband's residence and her axle broke and that she was trying to push her minivan off the roadway before they arrived.

Police say when they asked Imel for her information, she initially refused, but once she provided it, dispatch advised them that Imel had an active warrant for failure to appear on an original charge of misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance in powder or crystalline form.

Laramie County Circuit Court Judge Sean C. Chambers signed the warrant on Jan. 30, 2025.

Meth in Her Bra

Police say when they handcuffed Imel, she told them that she had a "bag of dope" in her bra, and when they searched her, they found a clear bag containing a clear crystalline substance consistent with methamphetamine in her bra.

Strip Search Leads to Marijuana

Imel was taken to the Laramie County Detention Center without incident, where she was strip searched and reportedly found to have a clear bag of suspected burnt marijuana on her.

Imel was booked on her warrant as well as charges of felony possession of methamphetamine and misdemeanor possession of marijuana.

Total Bond Set at $3K Cash

On Wednesday, March 26, Imel was seen in Circuit Court on the charges.

Her total bond was set at $3,000 cash -- $1,000 cash in her misdemeanor case and $2,000 cash in her felony case -- and her arraignment and preliminary hearing were scheduled for Wednesday, April 2, at 3:30 p.m.

Please remember that all suspects are presumed to be innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
