A 27-year-old Cheyenne man is facing a felony charge after police reportedly found methamphetamine during a traffic stop in south central Cheyenne.

According to a booking sheet, D'Antae Antonio McCray was arrested at 3:06 a.m. on Aug. 16, 2024, after police stopped the car he was riding in near East 7th Street and Russell Avenue for a faulty license plate light.

Police say McCray wasn't wearing his seat belt, and when they asked him for his name, he identified himself as his brother, "D'Andre McCray."

When police searched the car, they reportedly found 4.79 grams of suspected methamphetamine on the passenger side of the car where McCray was sitting.

McCray was taken to the Laramie County Detention Center, where he was booked without incident.

McCray was subsequently charged with felony possession of methamphetamine, a crime punishable by up to seven years in prison, up to a $15,000 fine, or both.

He was also charged with interference with a peace officer - no injury, a misdemeanor.

McCray made his initial appearance in Laramie County Circuit Court on Aug. 20, 2024, during which his bond was set at $3,000 cash and his preliminary hearing was scheduled for Aug. 23, 2024, at 9:45 a.m.

Please remember that all suspects are presumed to be innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
