A 27-year-old Cheyenne man is facing felony charges after allegedly threatening a female with a knife and strangling her.

According to a booking sheet, police were called to an apartment at 2:21 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 24, for a report of a suspicious person, and were advised that a female was seen being dragged into the apartment.

Upon arrival, officers heard screaming coming from inside the apartment.

Police say the door was kicked in and Timothy David Tyler and the female "were located in the apartment in a domestic."

Police say Tyler told them that he found out the female was cheating on him, and he was suicidal the night before.

Tyler said he woke up and got into an argument with the female.

He then admittedly began running around the apartment looking for her phone and she began to "resist" him.

She then reportedly ran out of the apartment and Tyler dragged her back inside so they could keep their argument private.

Police say the female told them that she learned Tyler had cheated on her, so she broke up with him.

She reportedly stayed with him the night before because he was suicidal and holding a knife to his wrist.

She said when Tyler woke up, they got into an argument, and Tyler held her down on the bed, pointed a large kitchen knife at her, and said either she was going to die, or he was.

The female said she hid behind a large mirror in the bedroom as Tyler held a knife to his wrists and that she tried to call 911 with his phone, but he heard her and took the phone away from her.

The female said at one point, Tyler grabbed her neck from behind with both his hands and she almost passed out. He then reportedly slapped her right ear.

The female then reportedly tried to run out of the apartment to get the neighbors for help, but Tyler chased her down and dragged her back into the apartment.

Police say the female had carpet burns and scrapes on her back from the carpeted stairs leading down into the apartment, a swollen and red right ear, and scrapes and red marks on her shoulders.

Police also observed a clean kitchen knife in the sink, the one Tyler had reportedly threatened her with.

Cheyenne Man Slapped With Felony Charges

Tyler was arrested and subsequently charged with felony strangulation, felony aggravated assault and battery-threatens to use drawn deadly weapon, misdemeanor domestic battery, and misdemeanor interference with an emergency call.

He made his initial appearance in Laramie County Circuit Court on Monday morning, during which his bond was set at $5,000 cash and his preliminary hearing was scheduled for March 4 at 10:30 a.m.
