3 Arrested Following Aggravated Assault in Cheyenne
Three men are behind bars following an investigation into an aggravated assault that occurred in north central Cheyenne last week, police say.
Aggravated Assault With a Knife
According to Public Information Officer Alex Farkas, it all started around 2 a.m. on Thursday, April 17, after officers were called to a report of an aggravated assault with a knife in the American Legion Post 6 parking lot at 2001 E. Lincolnway.

"Officers arrived to find a male victim with several cuts, bruises, and scrapes around his head, and a deep cut on his hand," Farkas said in a news release. "He was transported by ambulance to Cheyenne Regional Medical Center."
Farkas says officers learned that the victim reportedly saw a verbal altercation occurring between 34-year-old Hillsdale resident Scott Barajas, 31-year-old Cheyenne resident Zachery Stief, and 28-year-old Cheyenne resident Qurveon Thomas outside of Redwood Lounge & Package Liquors at 2105 E. Lincolnway.
Caught on Camera
"He approached the men and told them to stop arguing, which escalated to a physical altercation with the victim," said Farkas. "Security camera footage shows Barajas brandishing a knife and swinging it towards the victim while Stief sprayed him with a can of bear spray."
"The victim attempted to use a skateboard he was carrying to protect himself," she added. "Barajas, Stief, and Thomas then chased the victim through the parking lot and physically assaulted him until he lost consciousness. Stief was observed leaving the scene with the victim’s skateboard in his possession."
Arrest Warrants
Farkas says the following day, April 18, detectives applied for and obtained arrest warrants for Barajas, Stief, and Thomas, and this afternoon, April 24, the three were arrested without incident.
She says all three were booked for aggravated assault, and Stief was also booked for robbery with injury and possession of a controlled substance.
Please remember that all suspects are presumed to be innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
