Cheyenne Man Accused of Strangling Wife, Breaking Cell Door
A 36-year-old Cheyenne man is being held on $21,000 cash bail after allegedly strangling his newlywed wife and then breaking a cell door at the jail.
Police Called to Physical Domestic
According to booking sheets, Adam Rodriguez was arrested at 12:41 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 19, after police were called to the hotel where he and his wife live for a physical domestic.

Punched, Slapped, Bit, and Strangled
Police say Rodriguez's wife told them Rodriguez kicked down the door, punched her, slapped her multiple times, bit her, and strangled her with both his hands.
Police say the door to their hotel room was hanging off the hinges with the frame split in half, and Rodriguez's wife had a bite mark on her left wrist, red puffiness on the left side of her face, and fresh scrape and scratch marks on her neck.
Accused of Cheating
Police say Rodriguez told them he arrived home and tried to take a shower, and his wife attacked him, accusing him of cheating, and scratched his neck.
Police say the two have been married since December 2024.
Rodriguez was handcuffed and taken to the Laramie County Detention Center, where he reportedly became verbally uncooperative.
Cell Door Broken
Around 9 a.m., a detention deputy reportedly observed Rodriguez, who was in a holding cell by himself, intentionally pushing, kicking, and hitting the cell door.
The deputy says this resulted in the cell door's track being broken off the wall, costing $200.
1 Felony, 2 Misdemeanors
Rodriguez was subsequently charged with strangulation of a household member, a felony punishable by up to 10 years in prison, and misdemeanor domestic battery as well as misdemeanor property destruction.
Total Bond Set at $21K Cash
On Thursday, Feb. 20, Rodriguez was seen in Laramie County Circuit Court in front of Judge T.J. Forwood on the charges.
Bond was set at $20,000 cash in his felony case and $1,000 cash in his misdemeanor case, and his preliminary hearing and arraignment were scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 27 at 3 p.m.
