Cheyenne Woman Arrested After K-9 Alerts Police to Meth, Fentanyl

A 47-year-old Cheyenne woman is facing felony drug charges following a traffic stop in south central Cheyenne.

According to a booking sheet, police stopped Jenny Marie Abeyta near the intersection of Central Avenue and 5th Street at 3:16 p.m. on Thursday, April 4.

Cheyenne Traffic Stop Leads to Felony Drug Arrest

Police say a K-9 arrived on the scene and alerted on Abeyta's car, and when they searched it, they found approximately five grams of suspected methamphetamine next to the driver's seat.

A single blue fentanyl pill was also reportedly found under the front passenger's seat.

Abeyta was arrested and booked into the Laramie County Detention Center for felony possession of methamphetamine, a crime punishable by up to seven years in prison, up to a $15,000 fine, or both; and possession of a controlled substance - third or subsequent offense, a felony punishable by up to five years in prison, up to a $5,000 fine, or both.

Abeyta made her initial appearance in Laramie County Circuit Court on Friday afternoon on charges of felony possession of methamphetamine, felony possession with intent to deliver, and misdemeanor possession of fentanyl.

Her bond was set at $10,000 cash and her preliminary hearing was scheduled for April 12 at 2:30 p.m.
