$25K Cash Bond Set for Cheyenne Man Accused of Kidnapping Ex-Wife
A 23-year-old Cheyenne man is facing three felony charges after allegedly kidnapping his ex-wife.
According to a booking sheet, police were dispatched to a location within city limits around 3:15 p.m. on Saturday, May 18, for a 911 hang-up call where a female was heard screaming.
Police say an additional 911 call came into dispatch stating there were shots fired.
911 Hang-Up Leads to Felony Charges for Cheyenne Man
Police arrived to find an apartment with broken glass and bullet casings outside of it, but no one was found inside.
After multiple interviews, police determined that a female was kidnapped by force by her ex-husband, Casey Neal Johnson.
Police located Johnson and his ex-wife in a vehicle in the 400 block of Synder Avenue near Johnson's home, and he was arrested after getting out of the passenger's side of the vehicle.
Police say a Taurus 9mm gun was located in the glove box in front of where Johnson was seated.
Johnson was booked into the Laramie County Detention Center and subsequently charged with kidnapping, a felony punishable by imprisonment for not more than 20 years; aggravated burglary, a felony punishable by imprisonment for not less than five years nor more than 25 years, a fine of not more than $50,000, or both; and aggravated assault, a felony punishable by imprisonment for not more than 10 years.
Johnson made his initial appearance in Laramie County Circuit Court on Tuesday morning, during which his bond was set at $25,000 cash and his preliminary hearing was scheduled for May 29 at 3 p.m.
