City of Cheyenne Urban Forestry Now Caring For Downtown Trees
The City of Cheyenne Urban Forestry Division is now responsible for trees within the city right-of-way in the Downtown Development Authority District.
The move follows a Cheyenne City Council action that wone final approval on June 25.
This means the city will be planting and caring for the trees along streets in the downtown area.
The Clean and Safe Division will continue tree watering, but Urban Forestry will provide all other tree-related care and maintenance.
According to a news release from the city, the first order of business is expected to be removing dead and hazardous trees as well as pruning trees that are affecting clearance. Removing metal grates and strapping materials that are girdling trees or creating tripping hazards will be another top priority.
Downtown business owners are being asked to call Urban Forestry at 637-6428 with any questions or concerns.
