The City of Cheyenne has launched a new app to help residents manage their garbage, recyclables and yard waste more easily.

Solid Waste Director Dennis Pino says the "My Waste" app reminds residents when to put their trash out and alerts them when their collection day changes.

"It's not cost effective to do (mailers) anymore and the apps seem to really get out to everybody," said Pino. "We're hoping this is going to help out and get more information out there."

Pino says the app also features a quiz that tests residents recycling knowledge.

"Hopefully it'll help people understand the importance of what can be recycled and what can't," said Pino.

The free app is available at the Apple store and the Google Play store.
