The President of the Board of Directors of the Children's Museum of Cheyenne says planning work on the facility is moving forward.

Amy Surdam says planners are getting ready to finish the schematic design phase of the project. Surdam says the next phase of the process will be the design development of architecture phase, which should get underway this fall.

Surdam says planners are still hoping to break ground on the facility by late 2016 and open sometime in 2017. She says museum officials are currently looking for public input on what residents would like to see included in the museum.

The facility is slated for the downtown Cheyenne property commonly known as ''the hole", which has sat vacant for over a decade ever since a fire destroyed a bake shop that had been located there.
