Did you know Alf's Pub is throwing a party on Saturday?

A benefit 'drive' to beat cancer will be held at Alf's Pub, 19th and Logan, on Saturday, May 2, to help Greg Jourgensen with his medical expenses.

Alf's Pub, on the corner of Logan and 19th Street, is hosting a benefit party from noon to 5 p.m. on Saturday, May 2, with lots of creative and tasty ways to raise money.

A chili cook-off will be held from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. Red, green and white chili entries will be accepted and sign up is between noon and 12:30 p.m. There is a $10 entry fee and prizes will be awarded at 3:30 p.m. First place in each category will win a $50 bar tab at Alf's Pub. A $10 wristband will buy you a bowl of chili, a drink and 1 voting ticket for each category.

A 9-hole toilet seat golf tournament will also be held at Alf's with check in at noon and a shotgun start at 12:30 p.m. The entry fee is $10 and team prizes will be awarded at the end.

Other fundraising opportunities include an in-house poker run from 2 to 3:30 p.m. for $5 per hand, a bean  bag toss contest from 2 to 3:30 p.m. with a $10 entry fee and a 50/50 raffle going on throughout the day.

There will also be a live auction from 4 to 5 p.m. on Saturday. Donations of auction items are still being accepted.
