Cheyenne Teen Facing Prison for Stealing Cash, Pop and Candy
A 19-year-old Cheyenne woman is facing up to 10 years in prison after allegedly stealing $1,235.43 worth of cash and food items from her employer over a three-week period.
A loss prevention employee told police that he had been investigating employee Allissa Arellano for a series of thefts. He said when he confronted Arellano about stealing $200 and some food items, she eventually pulled the cash out of her T-shirt.
An empty Wild Cherry Pepsi bottle, empty orange Tic Tac box and a peanut M&M's wrapper were also found in the area where Arellano was seen throwing them away on store video footage.
When the loss prevention employee asked Arellano about $570.01 that was stolen on November 21 and $461.34 that was stolen on Thanksgiving, Arellano said she used the money to pay her rent.
Arellano has been charged with one count of felony theft. Her preliminary hearing is scheduled for Feb. 22 in Laramie County Circuit Court.
