Cheyenne Seeks Public Input on Fifth-Penny Sales Tax
The City of Cheyenne will hold three public meetings this month to gather input on the proposed use of the 2019-2022 fifth-penny sales tax.
The tax is the primary funding source for street construction and maintenance within the city, and is estimated to collect $42.5 million over the four-year period.
The public meetings will be held:
- Tuesday, May 15 - 5:30 p.m., Cheyenne Public Safety Center, 415 W. 18th Street
- Thursday, May 17 - 5:30 p.m., Kiwanis Community House, 4603 Lions Park Drive
- Tuesday, May 22 - 5:30 p.m., Cheyenne Fire Rescue Fire Training Complex, 7222 Commerce Circle
The fifth-penny sales tax will be up for renewal on the Nov. 6 ballot. The county-wide tax has been collected and renewed by voters since 1978.
