A 43-year-old Cheyenne man is facing felony charges after allegedly stealing a woman's vehicle, injuring her in the process.

Domestic Violence Incident Leads to Felony Arrest

According to a booking sheet, Jason Edward Zumbrun was the primary aggressor in a domestic violence incident on Friday, Oct. 24, during which he took the keys to the victim's vehicle and violently pushed her to the ground, causing her physical pain.

Zumbrun reportedly went back to the property the following day, Oct. 25, and when law enforcement arrived, he hid in a shelter which he dug out by hand in the rear of the property to evade being apprehended.

Zumbrun was subsequently arrested and booked into the Laramie County Detention Center.

He was charged with robbery and felony theft, both crimes punishable by up to 10 years in prison, up to a $10,000 fine, or both; and interference with a peace officer - no injury, a misdemeanor punishable by up to one year in jail, up to a $1,000 fine, or both.

Initial Court Appearance

On Tuesday, Oct. 28, Zumbrun was seen in Laramie County Circuit Court in front of Judge Antoinette Williams on the charges.

Williams appointed Zumbrun a public defender and his preliminary hearing was set for Wednesday, Nov. 5, at 1:30 p.m.

Williams then asked for the state's position regarding bond.

"There appears to be almost every possible attempt for Mr. Zumbrun to elude police," the state said. "He was found hiding in a dugout. He made a shield to protect himself and (they) had to extract him with a canine officer. He fled the state ... law enforcement attempts to call him, and he made all kinds of statements saying that he would have to be killed before he would return the vehicle ... I think there's no reason in the world that a cash bond should not be set."

"I would also note that Mr. Zumbrun was found guilty of violating a protection order in February," the state added. "He clearly has no regard for the lawful orders of this court or the laws of the state of Wyoming. The state believes that $50,000 cash is appropriate in this matter."

Bond Set at $50K Cash

"The court's going to go ahead and set your bond at $50,000 cash based on the nature of the offense," said Williams.

Please remember that all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
