Cheyenne Police say charges are pending for the driver of a car who struck a pickup, causing it to crash into a house, before speeding away.

The incident happened on Friday, Oct. 11 near the 3800 block of Central Avenue, just south of Lions Park.

Public Information Officer Alex Farkas says according to statements, a Toyota Corolla and a Toyota Tundra were traveling south on Central Avenue when the Tundra attempted to pass the Corolla.

"The Corolla hit the back passenger side of the Tundra, which caused it to rotate sideways and roll into a brick house, resulting in significant structural damage," Farkas in a news release sent out Tuesday morning said.

"The Corolla then continued south on Central at a high rate of speed," she added.

Witness Gets License Plate Number

Farkas says a woman who witnessed the crash followed after the Corolla to record the license plate number until the driver drove through a red light, then returned to the scene to share the number with officers.

Fortunately, Farkas says no serious injuries have been reported.

Alleged Hit-and-Run Driver Arrested on Unrelated Charge

"The following day, the driver of the Corolla was arrested by a Laramie County Sheriff’s deputy for an unrelated protection order violation," said Farkas.

When asked about the driver's identity, Farkas told KGAB Radio, "I am unable to confirm a name at this time. The name will be forthcoming when additional charges are released."

However, arrest records indicate the driver was 42-year-old Cheyenne transient Jason Edward Zumbrun.
